Bristol Temple Quarter is the West of England’s Enterprise Zone.

The Enterprise Zone covers circa 70 hectares (173 acres) of land surrounding Bristol Temple Meads railway station. It features a range of development opportunities including over 240,000 sq m (2.6 million sq ft) of new or refurbished space featuring offices, research and development floor space and retail as part of a wider mixed use development, highly attractive to businesses looking to relocate.

The Zone aims to meet the needs of national and international investors. Initial analysis suggests that its renewal and redevelopment will lead to the creation of almost 17,000 new jobs over a 25 year period.

There will be a particular focus on attracting creative industries and technology, but it will be a hub for all creative minded businesses. Very high speed, pervasive digital connectivity will be a central feature of the Zone.

Creative and technology companies already located within Temple Quarter include Artswork Media, BBC Studios and Post Production, BT, Big Blu, Element78, Epic Photography, Fujitsu, Gravity Ltd, Hope Music Group, Ignition, Open, Positive, ScaryCat Studio, Signal Network, The White Balance and Wrap3. Temple Quarter also includes an established cluster of financial and professional services companies as well as various civil service departments and agencies.

We are discussing with Government the detail of a business rate discount that will apply in the Zone and are exploring a relaxation of some planning requirements to speed development whilst retaining and respecting the area’s historic context.

The Zone will be highly accessible, benefiting from electrification of the Great Western mainline plus local transport enhancements such as the Bus Rapid Transit. It will also include a rich variety of spaces ranging from high quality refurbishments to brand new space meeting the highest standards of eco- efficiency and design, with Temple Quarter offering occupiers a range of BREEAM 'excellent' buildings.
